Obituary For Dorothy Mae Wilson

Dorothy Mae Carter Wilson extended her hand to the almighty father on July 26, 2020 where she will find streets of gold, angelic choirs and a sanctimonious resting place. She is the epitome of LOVE. She never met a stranger. She exemplified all the characteristics of what a mother, a servant and just being real, should look like. She left this world with no stones unturned. She poured her all on all that she encountered. “Dot” loves her family, biological as well as those adopted. Family meant everything to her! Dorothy was born August 12, 1930 in St. Charles, South Carolina, to the late Joseph and Ada Carter. She married the late Charlie Wilson, February 19, 1950, relocated to Fort Pierce, Florida and began a new family legacy. As a military spouse, this 55 year marriage beget 5 children, of which 2 sons are preceded in death: Richard and Garry Wilson.

She was a dedicated and faithful member of First Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, where she is affectionately known as "Momma Dot"! She joined the church under the founder Reverend Charlie Byrd and served over 60 years. On October 3, 1958 she joined the usher board and served as the Chief Usher. She is a member of the Pastors Aids Society and helps in Sarah’s Kitchen Ministry.

Her professional career at Sunrise Cannery in Fort Pierce lasted over 30 year. She progressively worked her way up the leadership chain. She served many years as Plant Supervisor before retiring.

Left to cherish her memories is, Charles Wilson Jr. (Debra), Riviera Beach, FL, Linda Wilson (Richmond), Fort Pierce, Fl, Deon Wilson (Yolanda), Dallas, Texas. 12 grandchildren, 29 great- grandchildren and 5 great- great grandchildren. A host of nieces, nephews and friends. Momma Dot was the community matriarch.

A Public Visitation will be held on Friday, July 31, 2020 from 3 - 7 p.m. at First Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, Fort Pierce. A Home Going Celebration will be held 1p.m., Saturday, August 1, 2020 at First Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, 506 N 11th St, Fort Pierce, FL. Rev. ELDREW BALDWIN, Officiating.

Although many venues have opened and the restrictions of COVID 19 have been relaxed, we here at Stone Brothers Funeral Homes are still enforcing the guidelines set forth by the CDC and FDOH to protect our families and our staff. We ask that you respect this, as it could very well save your life. We also ask that you acknowledge and execute the 6 ft. social distancing guidelines, as well.
