Wardell Green (66), known to some as “Cowboy” and to others as “Howling Wolf” was born December 23, 1953 to George W. and Annie B. Green in Jackson, Mississippi. Wardell was one of 10 siblings who grew up experiencing love, care, conflicts and never ending excitement. Wardell was calm, easy going, compassionate and fun to be around. He attended Walton and Mary Morrison Elementary School and Sam M. Brinkley High School. Wardell lived, met and embraced many of life’s challenges. He also came to know situations and circumstances don’t define you. It’s all about knowing and accepting Jesus as Lord and Savior, which he did at an early age at Cedar Grove M.B. Church in Pocahontas, Mississippi. Thank God, His name is written in the Lamb’s Book of Life. Wardell married Maggie Emma Lee. He is the father of three children: two sons and a daughter. Wardell enjoyed friends, riding motorcycles and different types of music; blues, country western and above all, gospel. He did not meet a stranger and loved family. His work experience includes an employee of Vikers and a painter. On July 27th, 2020 at 4:00 P.M., Wardell departed his earthly life at the Clinton Healthcare Facility in Clinton, Mississippi to receive his Heavenly Reward. Preceding him in death were: (Parents) George W. and Annie B. Green, (Sister) Linda Roland, (Brother) Johnny Bradley, (Nephew) Tumetheus L. Pack and (Sister-in-law) Mary Lou Green. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Maggie; children, Wardell Green, Jr., Derrick Green and Christinia Lawson; two granddaughters, Ja’Miracle and Debresha; four grandsons, Quardius, Trendell, Josiah and Dekhlan; siblings, Bonnie M. Harris (Rev. Erwin), Albert James Moore, John Percy Green, August S. Donald, Rev. Dr. Mary L. Green, Maria D. Epps and George Wayne Green and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
