Obituary For Mary Jean Walker Smith

Ms. Mary Jean Walker Smith was born January 13, 1957 to the late Mr. Wilbert Sr. and Mrs. Lillie Pearl Davenport Walker. She departed her earthly life on July 25, 2020.

Mary would always tell family and friends when someone passed: God saw a beautiful flower, he picked it and carried it to Heaven. That was so true when God called Mary Jean’s name. She was a person that always made everybody laugh. She would always say “I Love You” after every conversation. She never met a stranger and befriended everyone she met. If you knew her, you knew she loved her favorite show-General Hospital. Mary joined Bethany Baptist Church at an early age under the leadership of the late Rev. Tom Davidson. She was a faithful and devoted member. She sang in the church choir and her favorite song was “Showers of Blessings”. She provided assistance wherever needed and could be found assisting in the kitchen.

She often volunteered at Terry Family Funeral Home. She loved to assist and help out anytime she could. Mary attended Harris County High School where she graduated in 1976. She had several jobs, but spent most of her employment career at West Point Pepperell and Interface Incorporated. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers: Mr. Wilbert Walker Jr., Mr. Willie Lee Walker and Mr. Ricky Walker.

Mary leaves to cherish her memories three sons: Antonio Untrez Walker (China), Darrick Tremayne Smith Jr. (Lakita) and Toborrea Donail Smith; one daughter: Wendy Felicia Magby; eight grandchildren: Terez, Kiana, Darrick Jr., A’Daijah, PJ, Aja, Yana and Amauree; one great-grandson: KJ and let’s not leave out Lucky. One loving and devoted sister: Sylvia Ann Walker; two brothers: Roy Lee Walker and Lonnie Walker; a special God-daughter: Tiffany Bartley and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, friends and her Bethany Baptist Church family.
