Ms. Nettie Mae Swain began this journey called life on Friday, January 5, 1962, in Talladega, Alabama to the union of William Howard Swain and Minnie J. McGhee Swain. Ms. Swain was a long time member of Belview Missionary Baptist Church. She attended school in the Talladega City Schools and concluded her education at Talladega High School. Throughout her professional career, Nettie was employed with Spring Valley, Tyson Foods, Palm Beach and Valet Cleaners. Being one of thirteen children, family was very important. Nettie’s greatest joy was being a mother to her four children and extending that love to her grandchildren. On the evening of Wednesday, July 29, 2020, Nettie completed this journey called life at University of Alabama Birmingham Hospital. She was preceded in passing by her daughter, Lakisha Fasha Swain; her parents, William Howard Swain and Minnie J. McGhee Swain; three sisters, Reabell Warwick, Juanita “Becky” Swain and Brenda Faye Elston; two brothers, Lawrence Swain and Willie Howard “Chop Chop” Swain; a niece, Shavon Green; and a nephew, Memphis “Lil Memp” Swain. Beautiful and cherished memories will live in the hearts of her three children, Tonora (Shernessa Vonté) Swain, Shandrica (Sean) Bolden and LaShanda (Terrance) Borden of Talladega, Alabama; three grandsons, De’Javion Truss, TraShaundez Bolden and LaTerrance Borden; five granddaughters, Tonorika Swain, KiShada Swain, TaShayon Borden, Sakhia Bolden and Tanauria Swain; five sisters, Lillie Ruth Whitson, Mozell (Johnnie) Whitson and Diane (Tony) McElderry of Talladega, Alabama, Patricia (Warren) Frazier of Cropwell, Alabama and Rita Swain of Talladega, Alabama; two brothers, Anthony Swain of Talladega, Alabama and Rodney (Shernnita) Swain of Birmingham, Alabama; a good friend, Joy Reynolds of Talladega, Alabama; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
