Obituary For Jerry Cooper

The Governor of South Carolina advises to limit public gatherings to 50 guests or less to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Smith Funeral Home of Florence, LLC carefully considered this recommendation and ask that additional guest please participate via live-streaming if it is authorized by the family.

A Private Graveside Service for Mr. Jerry Nathaniel "Pappy" Cooper will be conducted 11:00 AM Sunday, August 9, 2020 in Sunset Memory Garden, 2615 Alligator Road, Effingham, South Carolina. Interment will follow, directed by Smith Funeral Home of Florence, LLC.

Mr. Jerry Nathaniel “Pappy” Cooper, a native of Florence South Carolina was born on November 24, 1952 to the late Mr. Sammie Cooper, Sr. and Rosie Davis Cooper. He entered into eternal rest peacefully on Monday, August 3, 2020 at Conway Medical Hospital in Conway, South Carolina.

Jerry attended Florence District One School and later joined Job Corps.

Jerry was joined in holy matrimony to Isabella Henry for eighteen years.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Laurie Gene Dorsey, Sammie Leroy Dorsey, Allen Cooper and Alfred Cooper; and one sister, Sylvia Wynn.

Those left to cherish his precious memories: his wife, Isabella Cooper; two daughters, Yolanda Wilder and Sheila Hankins; a son, Ricky Hankins; two grandchildren, Kyla Wilder and Malakai Becote; two sisters, Ruth Davis of Florence, South Carolina and Sandra (Michael) Dent of Columbia, South Carolina; one brother, Sammie (Joyce) Cooper, Jr. of Effingham, South Carolina; eight sister-in-laws, Janice Cooper of Florence, South Carolina, Martha Cooper of Evergreen, South Carolina, Christine Dorsey, Carrie Dorsey of Miami, Florida, Willow Mouzon, Francena Swinton, Carolyn Johnson and Debra Berry all of Florence, South Carolina; his mother-in-law, Mary Henry; one surviving uncle, Henry Cooper; two special cousins, Harmon (Shorty) Davis and Ulysses (Mickey) Davis both of Florence, South Carolina; and a host of nieces; nephews; cousins; and friends.
