Obituary For Christine Kelley James

The Obituary

Christine Kelly James was born on April 25, 1935 to the late E.K. and Mattie C. Burton Kelly in Coosa County, Alabama. At an early age she confessed her belief in Christ and joined Mount Zion Baptist Church in Attalla, Alabama. Until the very end, she was a faithful member under the leadership of Pastor Harold Kimble.

She attended Carver High School in Gadsden, Alabama. Later, her family moved to Attalla, Alabama where she was blessed and joined Mount Zion Baptist Church. She loved singing in the choir. At an early age she was often called upon to welcome the guest and to make special occasion speeches to tell others of God’s goodness. Also, she was a devoted Sunday school and Bible study participant, all the while sharing the love of God’s word with others. She was a dedicated worker at all she did. She retired from Attalla Healthcare Center after 25 years of employment.

She was preceded in death by: her brothers, Alek Kelly, Jr., Charles Kelly and Willie Kelly; sisters, Lorine Kelly, Allie Mae Williams and Tommie Lee Thomas. On Monday morning, August 3, 2020, God’s spirit entered her home and whispered, “Job well done, I have prepared a room for you my good and faithful servant.” Cherishing her precious memories: children, Michael Kelly of Gadsden, AL, Jackey Rooks of Augusta, GA, Darryl (Armeda Maxwell) James of Los Angeles, CA, Jeffrey James, Gregory James, Cathy James, Terrell James, Danny Ray James, all of Gadsden, AL and Kaylar (Terrence) James McCain of Rainbow City, AL; brother, Benjamin Kelly of Attalla, AL; grandchildren, La’Tanya, Christopher, Britney, Lakefia, Darryl, Darryl, III, Payden, Ja'Quese, Ziya, Cherrell, Tee, Torrance, Falon, Jay and JaMichal; eighteen great grandchildren; niece and nephew, Phyllis (Clinton) Bothwell and Carl (Gina) Kelly; special friends, Diane Harrell and Bessie Calloway; a host of other relatives and friends who will cherish her memory.

Public Viewing will be on Friday from Noon-6 P.M. at the West Gadsden Funeral Home

Funeral Services will be 3 P.M. Saturday August 8,2020 at the West Gadsden Funeral Home ( Betty D. Robinson) Chapel Pastor Harold J. Kimble, officiating Burial in the Lincoln Hill Memorial Park.
