MRS. RUTH HANNAH OLIVER DAVIS, born in Mecklenburg County, VA on March 22, 1941 to the late Booker T. Oliver and the late Glennie Moorefield Oliver, departed this life August 1, 2020 at Southern Maryland Hospital, Clinton, MD. She was also preceded in death by her grandmother, Homie Moorefield and three brothers- Charlie, James, and Curtis Oliver.

At an early age she was baptized and joined Temple Gate RZUA Church, South Hill, VA. She was a faithful member, including a member of the Senior Usher Board, President of the Junior Usher Board and participated in other auxiliaries as she was needed. She was a graduate of the former East End High School. Ruth was married to the late Willie Davis on December 24, 1959 and to this union three children were born.

She was employed by Burlington Industries for 20 years and later moved to Washington, DC and worked for the Department of Justice until her retirement. After retirement she became a Mary Kay representative for many years.

While residing in Washington, DC, she joined Macedonia Community Church where she was a faithful member until her health began to decline.

In her spare time she enjoyed watching soap operas, putting large puzzles together, playing gin rummy, coloring pictures on her IPad, listening to gospel music and spending time with family and friends.

Ruth was a living angel, definitely a child of God. She loved her children and grandchildren very much. Her kind, sweet and loving ways made her a joy to be around. She was loved by so many. She always encouraged you with a smile, teaching you so many things worthwhile. She was known for her quick wit, and her kind and compassionate spirit. She was a voice of reason, a story teller, advice giver, hand holder, partner-in-crime, shopping buddy, supporter, broken heart healer, teacher, nerve calmer, problem solver, comedian, peace keeper, cheerleader, and confidant. When you looked into her eyes, you knew that it was the purest love you could find.

Ruth leaves to cherish fond memories: three children, Deborah Davis Feggins, Temple Hills, MD; Tyrone Davis, Mercer, PA; DeWayne (Kendra) Davis, Sr., Upper Marlboro, MD; eight grandchildren- Shanequa, De Wayne, Jr., Ashley, Dominique, Morgan, Jordan, DeLano and Arianna; two great-grandchildren, Rico and Layla; mother- Louise Oliver, Amelia, VA; three sisters- Geraldine Jones, Amelia, VA; Barbara Jordan and Gracie Oliver, Richmond, VA; three brothers- Lawrence, Earnest and Max Oliver, Richmond, VA; five sisters-in-law, Adriane Oliver, Rochelle Oliver, Doris Hemphill, Dorothy Holmes, all of Richmond, VA and Mary Kilebrew, Suitland, MD; one brother-in-law, George Holmes, Richmond, VA; God-daughters, Shantelle Duke Walker, Sharelle Duke and Katrina Wilson; honorary children and grandchildren, Natalie Isley, Roy Green, Rachelle Crocket, Ny’Elah Richardson and A’Niyah Jones and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
