Obituary For Mr. Julius Lorenzo Harris

Public viewing will be Saturday, August 15, 2020 from 1:00 - 4:00 pm at the mortuary. Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 15, 2020 at 4:00 pm at W. H. Mays Mortuary Chapel, 1221 James Brown Boulevard, Augusta, GA with Reverend Larry Fryer, officiating.

Mr. Julius Lorenzo Harris was born in Soperton, Georgia on April 17, 1951 to Julius R.Harris and Annie Pearl Phillips Harris. He received his formal education in the Georgia public school system. Julius spent some time in the United States Air Force before moving to Brooklyn, New York where he spent 20 years of his life. He was employed as a production line worker. In 1990, Julius aka Buddy as he was affectionately called by his loved ones, moved back to Georgia where he settled in Augusta and made it his home. While living in Augusta, Buddy continued to work as a production line worker. He was employed by Coca Cola incorporated and later moved on to Solo Cup Company where he retired in 2013.

Buddy LOVED spending time with his grand children. He also enjoyed going to the flea market, and taking long drives to the country. He was a huge fan of American Ninja Warrior, TV court shows, and oldie but goodie programs like Gun Smoke, Mash and Sanford and Son. He was also a fan of Bobby Womack’s music.

Julius Harris departed this life on August 6, 2020 in his home at the age of 69. He was preceded in death by his parents Julius R Harris and Annie Pearl Phillips Harris, his step-brother Henry Bostic and his beloved sister Gloria Jean Harris Simms.

Buddy will be lovingly remembered by his two sons, Dennard Harris of Brooklyn New York, Demal Harris of Augusta Georgia and his only daughter Dawnisha Harris Stone (Marvin Stone) of Augusta Georgia. His grandchildren: Jaden Demal Harris, Myana Sanaa Mahadi, Janay Zakia Harris, Mekhi Samir Harris (papa big boy), Jabari Demal Harris and Bridgette Roos. One great-grand daughter Penelope Clover Dodd. His siblings Brenda Joyce Harris, Addie Louise Harris, Valencia Harris Naylor, Veronica Harris, Van Harris, Vince Harris, and Vern Harris. He also leaves to cherish his memory, his loving, caring, and dedicated friend Ms.Martha Tyler. Buddy is also survived by his many nieces, nephews, cousins, and his best friend since childhood Mr Richard Turner of Connecticut.
