Obituary For Lawrence Marvin "Jew Man" Hayward

Funeral services for Lawrence Marvin “Jew Man” Hayward, 70, will be private due to the COVID -19 precautions regarding social distancing.

Lawrence Marvin Hayward, the son of the late Lawrence and Zilla T. Hayward was born in Allendale, SC on December 19, 1949.

Marvin received his early Christian training at Virgin Mary Baptist Church. He graduated from C.V. Bing High School in 1969, where he was a member of the track and field team. After high school, he enrolled in Denmark Technical College in Denmark, South Carolina, where he received his training in brick masonry and became a licensed Brick Mason.

Marvin was affectionately known by many as “Jew Man.” Marvin’s skills as a brick mason carried him to places both far and near, as he hewed his gift of masonry. Marvin enjoyed the art of building and construction. He worked from South Carolina to Alabama. One of his notable jobs was the Convention Center in Charleston, South Carolina. After several years of declining health, Marvin spent his final days at the Carlyle Senior Care Nursing Home in Aiken, South Carolina. He entered into eternal rest on August 8, 2020. Marvin was a devoted son, brother, and father.

Marvin leaves to cherish his memories: his sister, Zilla M. Williams of Allendale, South Carolina; daughter, Diane Y. Robinson (Gary); granddaughter, Shenika Young Lanier (Mar’vese) of Lawton, Oklahoma; grandson, Gary Elijah Robinson of Allendale, South Carolina; great-grandson, Gabriel James II of Lawton, Oklahoma; a special friend, Sallie Seabrook of Allendale, SC; and a host of cousins, other relatives, and friends

Window viewing will be held on Thursday, August 13, 2020 at the funeral home from 5-7 p.m. You are required to wear a mask while on the premises.

The family will not be receiving visitors at the home. You may call his sister, Zilla Williams at 584-2393.

Marvin was a very likable and caring gentleman. He believed in treating everyone with respect and compassion. He has gone home to be with God and his parents. Marvin will be missed but never forgotten.
