Obituary For Charles Anthony Sewell, Sr.

MR. CHARLES ANTHONY SEWELL, SR. 65 - Of Tuscaloosa, AL and formally of Calhoun, Georgia passed away on Friday, August 7, 2020. He was born March 15, 1955 to Willard Sewell and Mamie Louise Reynolds Sewell in Chattanooga, Tn. He was a graduate of Calhoun High School, Class of 1973 and a member of the Christian faith. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, golfing, and grilling. Charles spent his entire life in communications and radio. He started work at the local radio station WEBS in Calhoun, GA. He worked in many genres of radio and his voice was heard in cities throughout the southeast such as Chattanooga, TN, and Dalton, Americus, Columbus, Rome, and Augusta, GA. His final stop was at WMXB 107.3 FM in Tuscaloosa, AL. He was preceded in death by his son, Charles Anthony “Man” Sewell, Jr.

He is survived by his parents, Willard Sewell and Mamie Louise Reynolds Sewell; daughters, Shana (Todd) Moore and Kimberly Sewell; son, James (Carmen) Newman; grandchildren, Andrew and Taylor Sewell, Patrick, Leila, and Jacob Moore, Javin and Calen Wallace, and Carter Newman; great grandchild, Silas Palmer; sister, Barbara Jackson; special uncle, Kent Reynolds (Frankie); special nieces, Kali Smith (DJ), Andrea Jackson, Nevaya, Naomi, and Lainee Smith; and a host of other relatives and friends. Out of respect for Charles’ wishes, the family will not have any formal services. Arrangements entrusted to Willis Funeral Home, Inc., Dalton, Georgia.
