Obituary For Samuel Carson

A Graveside Homegoing Celebration for Mr. Samuel "Big Boy" Carson, 77, of Eastaboga, Al will be Saturday, August 15, 2020 at 11:00 am at Kelly Springs Memorial Gardens with Rev. Jeffery Leonard officiating. Public Viewing Friday from 1-5.

Mr. Carson passed away Sunday, August 9, 2020 at Northeast Alabama Regional Medical Center. Mr. Carson was born on September 8, 1942 to the late Sam and Mildred Carson. He is survived by his wife Annie Carson, children Shavonne Carson of Eastaboga, Mildred (Juan) Melton of Selma, Melony Brown of Jonesboro, Ga, Melissa Carson of Selma, Cathy Fails of Sacramento, CA, Gretta (Carlton Jr) Jamison of McDonough, GA, and Dewong (Tonya) Franklin of Williamsburg, VA; 19 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren Mr. Carson was proceeded in death by his parents Sam and Mildred Carson, sister Mattie Carson, brothers Willie Toole, Michael Carson, and Donnie Carson.

Mr. Carson served in the United States Army and Alabama Army National Guard from 1977 to 2002. Mr. Carson was a part of the Civil Rights Movement where he marched from Selma to Montgomery in what we know today as Bloody Sunday. Mr. Carson was a loving man that cared about everyone he met.

He never met a stranger. Special thanks to everyone for the prayers, calls, food, and acts of kindness shown during this time. Goodson Funeral Home in charge of services.
