Mr. Carson passed away Sunday, August 9, 2020 at Northeast Alabama Regional Medical Center. Mr. Carson was born on September 8, 1942 to the late Sam and Mildred Carson. He is survived by his wife Annie Carson, children Shavonne Carson of Eastaboga, Mildred (Juan) Melton of Selma, Melony Brown of Jonesboro, Ga, Melissa Carson of Selma, Cathy Fails of Sacramento, CA, Gretta (Carlton Jr) Jamison of McDonough, GA, and Dewong (Tonya) Franklin of Williamsburg, VA; 19 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren Mr. Carson was proceeded in death by his parents Sam and Mildred Carson, sister Mattie Carson, brothers Willie Toole, Michael Carson, and Donnie Carson.
Mr. Carson served in the United States Army and Alabama Army National Guard from 1977 to 2002. Mr. Carson was a part of the Civil Rights Movement where he marched from Selma to Montgomery in what we know today as Bloody Sunday. Mr. Carson was a loving man that cared about everyone he met.
