Obituary For Jerry Warren Baskett

I'd like the memory of me to be a happy one. I'd like to leave an afterglow of smiles when life is done. I'd like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways, Of happy times and laughing times and bright and sunny days. I'd like the tears of those who grieve, to dry before the sun; Of happy memories that I leave when life is done.

Jerry Warren (Roadrunner) Baskett was born November 21, 1950 to the late Fred Douglas and Mamie Eva Bell Baskett. He transitioned on August 11, 2020 at Warren Hills Nursing Center under the care of his hospice nurse, Emmitt. Jerry graduated from John Graham High School and served in the US Marine Corps until December 22, 1971 until his honorable discharge.

In addition to his parents, he his preceded in death by, his wife, Janie Rose Bullock Baskett.

He leaves to cherish his memories; his son, Michael Bullock of Wendell; his daughters, Keshai Baskett of Norlina, North Carolina and Ebony Jackson (Reggie) of Franklinton, North Carolina; his precious grandchildren, Jasmine, Sierra, RJ, Maya, Evan, Austin, and Danielle; one nephew that he helped rear, Michael Bullock "Lil Mike" (Tonie) of Clayton, North Carolina; his loving brothers, Fred Baskett, Jr. (Shema) of Warrenton; and their special children, Covey, Isha, Fred III, Josh, and Tray; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Mary (James), Wesley (Isabelle), Virginia (Arthur), John Lee (Ellen), Phyllis, Sherry, Walter, and Barbara (Bobby); a special friend, Robert (Reggie) Steverson; along with a host of cousins, relatives and friends.
