OPELOUSAS - Funeral services will be held at 11: 00 a.m. on Saturday, August 15, 2020 at Ford and Joseph Funeral Home in Opelousas, LA for Mrs. Gladys M. “Shorty” Richard-Kennerson, 65, who entered eternal rest on Friday, August 7, 2020 at her residence in Opelousas, LA. Mrs. Kennerson’s memories are being cherished by: her husband, Joseph James Kennerson of Opelousas, LA; one son, Paul D. Richard of Ville Platte, LA; two daughters, Dawnia Kennerson-Steven (Seneca) of Baton Rouge, LA and Sandra Thomas of Houston, TX; three honorary daughters, Kym Guillory and Diamonique Bell (DD), both of Opelousas, LA and Tarshara Hicks (Al) of Baton Rouge, LA; two brothers, Peter W. Richard (Abigail) of Washington, LA and Ronald J. Richard of Lafayette, LA; three sisters, Mary Lorraine Richard Williams (Darryl) of Opelousas, LA, Theresa Richard and Mary D. Richard, both of Lafayette, LA; twelve grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by: her parents, Peter W. Richard, Sr. and Mildred Jean Ned Richard; grandparents, George Ned, Jr. and Cora Lee Ned; one sister, Linda H. Richard; mother and father-in-law, Leonce and Mary Helen Pickney Kennerson; sister-in-law, Mary Kennerson Smith; Godmother, Viola Ned Johnson; and a host of aunts and uncles.

Visitation will be on Saturday, August 15, 2020 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at Ford and Joseph Funeral Home. ** Please be advised we will adhere to the safety measures and precautions provided by the state of Louisiana due to COVID-19. Masks are required for those who will be in attendance. **
