He graduated from Peabody High School in Mt Gilead, NC. George settled in High Point, NC in the early 1950’s. He was gainfully employed with Burlington Industries before retiring at Marsh Furniture Company in 1994. George was an avid gardener and was known for his famous collards and tomatoes. He would sit for hours watching old westerns with his faithful cat Petunia. George loved life to the fullest. He lived a strong and unique life for 86 years.
He leaves to cherish his memories, sons, Marshall McIntyre and Marvin Lee (Loretta) McIntyre both of Atlanta, GA; daughter, Arnetta Lynn McIntyre of Boston, MA; grandchildren, Theresa McIntyre, Lynise McIntyre, Marshall McIntyre, Jr., Cameron McIntyre and Wade McIntyre; great-grandchildren, Zariah James, Brianna Charles, Valencia Dowdell and Isaiah Dowdell; sister, Mae Frances McIntyre; brothers-in-law, Carl Young and Robert Young; a significant other of 50 years, Barbara J. Zakos; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and close friends.
A private funeral service will be held Saturday, August 22, 2020 at Phillips Funeral Service Chapel. Interment will follow at Guil-Rand Memorial Park. Mr. McIntyre may be viewed on Friday, August 21, 2020 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Service Chapel.
