Obituary

Charles Frederick “Jackie Boy” Robinson was born on October 5, 1937 in Brookhaven, MS., the second of seven off-springs of parents Anna M. Robinson and Sylvester “Red” Robinson, both of whom preceded him in death. He matriculated through the Brookhaven School System first at Fannie L. Mullins Elementary School before earning his diploma from Alexander High School in 1956. Accompanying Jackie Boy in the class of ’56 was his brother, best friend and first Cousin Herb Freeman, who has also gone home to be with the Lord. After high school, Jackie Boy pursued and achieved a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English Education with a music minor from Jackson State, graduating in 1960. During his undergraduate time at Jackson State, he participated in the marching band and pledge the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., Upsilon Epsilon Chapter. Further graduate study toward a master’s degree was pursued at Mississippi College. While at Jackson State, he met Clinestine Martin (deceased), who in noticeably short order would become Mrs. Charles F. Robinson. They would be blessed with daughter Tresta’, who presently resides in San Antonio, Texas and Michael Fiztgerald Robinson, a legally adopted nephew. After a career in education hat span over 20 years in Carthage, Lawrence, and Madison Counties as an English teacher and band director, he abruptly changed course, ending his professional career as a state auditor in the Mississippi Governor’s Office.

His Christian faith was nurtured at Bethel AME in Brookhaven, and after moving to Jackson, he connected with New Hope Baptist Church before subsequently joining Anderson United Baptist Church where he was a faithful and trusted Christian disciple.

In his golden years, Jackie Boy met Mary Knight, an encounter which led to holy matrimony and a wonderfully, enduring bond of love and friendship. Our beloved “Jackie Boy” leaves to mourn myriad nieces and nephews including Rhonda Harris Ham, Jackie Harris, Chrisha Bennett, Michael Bennett and numerous other relative and friends.
