Imojean Smith Hunt Cunningham, lovingly known as “Jean” lived a life that most people can only envision. She was born July 14, 1910 to the parentage of the late Sollie Arthur Smith and Donnie Powell Smith. She was called home, August 18, 2020, after 110 well lived years on this earth. “Jean” attended school at Bethany, formerly known as Tarver Grove School. She rejoiced in her love for God with her favorite scripture, John 16:23, “And in that day you will ask Me nothing. Most assuredly, I say to you, whatever you ask the Father in My Name He will give you”. In 1935 She went to New York City, as it was her first time leaving the state of Georgia. She was employed at Goldberg Co., a factory in New York City making mops as a Machine Operator. She later worked at a gift shop on 5th Avenue after the closing of the factory. She married Walco Hunt in 1942. After 11 years of marriage her beloved Walco transcended from earth. She remained in New York until she retired. She then returned home to Bartow, GA, on December 19, 1971. “Jean” later married Deacon Joe Cunningham in 1983. He later succumbed to his death in 1993. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings; Lillie Mae Smith, Wilehmina Smith, Oscar Smith Hardeson, Eddie Lee Smith, and Robert Lee Smith. She will forever be remembered by her nieces and nephew, Lucille Hudson, of Miami, FL, Bernice Robinson-Perry, Philadelphia, PA, Leroy Robinson (wife Jude) of Wellington, Kansas; Her caregivers, Terrence and Jequetta Bess; a special friend, Jeanette Fann; a god daughter, host of grand and great nieces and nephews and cousins. Graveside services will be held Saturday, August 22, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. at the Tarver Grove Baptist Church. Public viewing will be held Friday, August 21 from 4:00 – 6:00 P.M.
