Obituary For Rev. Johnnie Boyd

He came into this world on July 5, 1929, born in Jamestown, NC, to the late Clark S. and Hazel C. Boyd. He was preceded in death by his only sibling, Reuben J. Boyd. He made his triumphant transition to glory on August 25, 2020, with his eyes looking toward Heaven. Assuredly, the angels rejoiced at his arrival.

He attended the public schools in Guilford County, NC. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army. After returning from his military duties, he was married to his loving devoted partner, Grace Randleman, until she transitioned in 2009. From this union came six children; Lillius A. (Herbert) Burkett of Tampa Bay, FL, Johnny L. Boyd of High Point, NC, Carles D. (Jennie) Boyd of Winston Salem, NC, Roger D. (Beverly) Boyd of High Point, NC, Clark G. (Renita) Boyd of High Point, NC, Regena M. (Maurice) Brown of Winston Salem, NC; he had seven grandchildren: Ryan Burkett, Maya Burkett-Cohen, Leah Boyd-Billingsley, Clark J Boyd, Alan M. White, Breana A. Boyd, James T. White; he had ten great-grandchildren to whom he was affectionately known as Papa; he leaves to mourn two very close cousins, Edith Khateeb and Vera Bullock of Gibsonville, NC; and a host of nieces and nephews, in-laws, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

He was a retired United Methodist Minister serving the Western North Carolina Conference.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, August 30, 2020, at Union Baptist Church on 1200 N. Trade St. Winston Salem, NC 27101. The family will receive friends at the church from 12:00 p.m. until 12:30 p.m. Interment will follow at Guilford Memorial Park. Rev. Boyd may be viewed on Saturday, August 29, 2020 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Service Chapel. Final arrangements are entrusted to Phillips Funeral Service, Inc.

My love and sympathy to all of you. Uncle Johnny was a great man and a great pastor. When l was a child, l saw his love and goodness for all of us. If anyone would have asked me when l was a child, to describe a hero. I would as l do now name Clark Boyd, my grandfather, Reuben Boyd my father and Johnny Boyd, my uncle. Rev.Boyd was like a father to me anything I ask Rev Boyd he would talk to me about the Bible all the time if I had a problem he would always help me and tell me pray to the master I remember saying Rev Boyd can you mess up your blessings he said no Paula you can delay them !!!
