Mrs. Dorothy Mae Davis Thompson, 73, of 133 Connecticut Ave. Gaffney, SC passed away on Friday, August 28, 2020 at Spartanburg Medical Center in Spartanburg, SC. She was born on August 28, 1947 in Cherokee County, SC to the late George Davis and Lessie Mae Smith Davis.

Dorothy graduated from Granard High School in 1967. She was married to Weldon Thompson for 52 years. She was previously a member of Bethel Baptist Church and later moved her membership to Youngs Grove Baptist Church after her marriage. She loved her church family. Dorothy was employed with Nestle for 19 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. George and Lessie Smith Davis and her siblings, George Davis, Jr., Larry Davis and Robert Davis.

She leaves behind a loving husband, Weldon Thompson; three children, Veronica Ellis (Glenn), Dell Thompson (Samantha) and Shawnta Thompson (Jody); four grandchildren,, Kendrick Kirby, Kayla Poole, Shawn Ellis, Jr. Tashawn Ellis; sister, Minister Cathy Neal (Quentin); sisters-in-law, Mamie Davis, Becky Davis, Blony Griffith (Brian) and Kate Thompson; brothers-in-law, Force Thompson (Ann), Harold Thompson (Sallie) and Horace Thompson, Jr. and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends.

The funeral service for Mrs. Thompson will be private. The service will be live-streamed on Facebook starting at 10:45 AM. She may be viewed at Youngs Grove Baptist Church in Blacksburg, SC on Friday, September 4, 2020 from 9:30 AM until 10:30 AM. Burial will take place at the church cemetery.
