Obituary For Tyrita Gooding

TYRITA S. GOODING , the daughter of Melvin Lewis Sr. and Virginia Gooding Wallace, was born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. She received her formal education in the Harrisburg School District and was a graduate of the former John Harris High School; having a desire to further her education, after graduation she went onto South Carolina State University. As a youth, Tyrita attended Faith Temple Church of God in Christ until she relocated to Virginia. In July 2018, she became a member of Sweet Haven Holy Church of God in Carrolton, Virginia. She was a licensed nurse and during her working career, Tyrita often worked doing private duty nursing and caregiving. Tyrita was extremely fond of her dog, Sasha, she was like her baby and she spoiled her often. On Tuesday, August 18, 2020 at Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center in Williamsburg, Virginia, Tyrita S. Gooding, at the age of 47 years, 5 months and 14 days, suddenly transitioned into eternal life. She was preceded in transitioning by her father, Melvin Lewis, Sr.; her paternal grandmother, Chaplin Mother Julia Mae Hall; her maternal grandfather, Hubert W. Hall Sr.; her grandfather, J.D. Brown; her stepfather, Albert Wallace and her brother, Rafael Gooding. She leaves to cherish memories of her; her mother, Virginia V. Wallace; her aunts, Betty Cowart, Lois Brown, Duleta Hall and Patricia Hill, (Tyrone Sr.) all of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, her siblings Charlene Anderson of Ohio; Darlene Lewis and Melvin Lewis Jr. of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; Sherri Hairston of Gulport, Mississippi; Billy Burge of Meridian, Mississippi; Sheldon Gooding, Sr. (Amond); Kevin Gooding, Sr.; Tyrone Gooding Sr. and Darrell Gooding Sr. (Tangela), all of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; her spiritual mother, Reverend Dr. P. A. Watson of Smithfield, Virginia and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. Her life will be celebrated on Monday, August 31 at 12:00 Noon in the Chapel of Major H. Winfield Funeral Home, Steelton with viewing from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 Noon and burial in Paxtang Cemetery. Covid 19 guidelines will be observed with masks and six foot social distancing for all attendees. Live streaming of the service will also be available on the Major H. Winfield Funeral Home YouTube Channel.

To the family, my deepest condolences to you. I am heartbroken to hear about the transitioning of my dear sister and friend. I cherish all the childhood memories that I shared with Tyrita on 18th St. I am blessed that we reconnected several years ago and shared so many more laughs. So sad to learn about the passing of Tyrita! She was an amazing friend of the family from when we lived on 18th street. She had such a positive vibe and her energy was so amazing. I will truly miss Rita we go way back from little girls eating dinners in her grandmothers kitchen on 18th St singing in church walking to school together love her so much I can really say she was a dear friend she will be truly missed
