Sallie Ann Brent

A Time To Be Born.... Sallie Ann Brent was born on January 21, 1940 in Georgetown, Mississippi (Copiah County) to the late Hattie Beasley Whalem and Houston Whalem. From this union, twelve (12) children were born and Sallie was the youngest.
A Time To Be Saved.... At an early age, Sallie confessed and accepted Christ at the Saint James United Methodist Church in Georgetown, Mississippi. After her marriage, she later moved to Jackson, Mississippi with her husband and joined Mount Nebo Baptist Church under the pastor-ship of the late Reverend Fred Black, She took her faith seriously and served diligently in various leadership capacities. Growing up in the Brent household, everyone had to attend church every Sunday including Sunday school, worship services, BTU, and special programs. Furthermore, all three children were expected to actively participate in at least one ministry in the church.
A Time To Lean and Serve.... She completed her general education at Brushy Creek School in Copiah County when she received her high school diploma. Sallie was employed at the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) in Jackson, Mississippi and retired after serving 38 years. During her early years at UMMC, she worked in the housekeeping /laundry unit and eventually worked her way up to a data coordinator in the radiology department where she continued until retirement.
A Time To Love.... On August 5, 1960, Sallie was united in holy matrimony to Bobbie Lee Brent. To this union, three children were born, two daughters, Lisa K. Brent (Jackson, Mississippi), Tracy Brent (Ridgeland, Mississippi) and one son, Michael Brent (Stone Mountain, Georgia). Sallie and Bobbie celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on August 5, 2020.
A Time To Be Herself.... Sallie was a devoted wife and mother who had a sweet kind spirit. She was loved by so many people in her family, church and the community. Wearing big beautiful colorful hats that accentuated her gorgeous suits every Sunday was her sense of style. Everyone loved her banana pudding, and she enjoyed making a batch to take along to family gatherings, work or dialysis to share with others.
A Time To Die.... On August 26, 2020, at 5:10 pm, Sallie peacefully entered into eternal rest at the UMMC in Jackson, Mississippi. She leaves to cherish her memory a devoted husband, Bobbie Lee; three children; Lisa, Michael and Tracey; two sisters: Martha Ann Whalem Brown and Lubertha Whalem Cobbs Freeman, She is preceded in death by five sisters; Essie Mae Beasley, Katherleen Whalem Sorrel, Ethel Mae Amos, Gearleen Whalem Smith, Priscilla Pendelton Robinson; and four brothers: Abel Whalem, Sr., Johnnie Whalem, Melvin Whalem, Sr., and Earnest Whalem, Sr.
