Obituary For Adlena Owens Young

Private funeral services for Adlena Owens Young, 80, of 332 Mixson Street Apt 1-B Allendale, SC were held on held 10;00 Friday, September 4, 2020 at Trinity UMC Cemetery with Reverend Bernice Graves officiating.

Sister Adlena Owens Young was born on February 2, 1940 to the late George and Candaisy Owens in Allendale, South Carolina. During her early childhood years in the 1950s, her family moved to Hallandale, Florida and she attended school in Broward County. She was a member of Gethsemane Baptist Church where she served on the Senior Choir as a gifted contralto singer.

She was married to Stratton Young in 1965. She worked numerous years for the Department of Revenue Services in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and later worked at Broward County Office of Aging until her retirement. On Sunday August 30, 2020 she gave her heart to God and slipped quietly away to be with the Lord.

She was preceded in death by three brothers: Walter, Herman and Ezekiel; five sisters: Georgie, Laura, Eva Mae, Ruby Mae and Helen; and Godmother, Adlena O. Fluitt.

She leaves to cherish her fond memories, one brother, Joseph (Ophelia) Owens of Hallandale, FL; one sister, Lillie Mae Bennett of Rochester, NY; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other sorrowing relatives and friends.
