Obituary For Mr. Terry Carl Beard

Augusta, GA-Mr. Terry Carl Beard entered into rest Tuesday, September 1, 2020.

Terry Carl Beard, the second of three children, was born September 23, 1947 to the late Robert J. (R.J.) Beard and Ella Maude Luke Beard in Augusta, Georgia.

At an early age, he accepted Jesus Christ and was baptized at Good Shepard Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Essie Mae McIntyre.

His early education was received in Richmond County schools, graduation from Lucy C. Laney High School, Class of 1965. He graduated from Kentucky State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration. Carl was employed at Augusta Technical College as Veterans Coordinator and later he was self-employed business owner.

Carl had a profound and keen insight into political and world events and enjoyed hours of discussion and debate about the world. He was also an avid sports fan and supporter of many professional athletes.

Carl is survived by his caring family – son, Kelvin (Kim) Powell; sister, Mary Kathryn Gladman; brother, Jason Baron Beard; brother-in-law, Robert H. Gladman, Jr.; sister-in-law, Rosemary Barksdale Beard; three grandchildren, Hakim Neely-Sabir, Marvin Small and Ieshia Small; goddaughters, Kanisha J. Beard, Jennifer N. Grant and Ericka W. Nelson; aunts, Willa Carswell, Margaret (Parnell) Jones, Juanita McIntyre, Estelle (Matt) Boykin, Margaret Beard, Mattie Beard and Betty Beard; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Graveside services will be held Saturday, September 5, 2020 at 12:30 p.m. at Southview Cemetery, 1102 Nellieville Road, Augusta, GA, with Reverend Clarence Moore, eulogist.

Public viewing will be Friday, September 4, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.
