Obituary For Rosa Hunter

Rosa Bell Hunter was born on October 27th, 1932, in Jasper, FL, as the second child to the late JD Tomlin and Rosa Missy Tomlin Seymour. She was a graduate of Hamilton County High in 1950.

She later transposed to Miami, FL, where she established a union with the late Bishop James Hunter and married on January, 6th, 1953. To this union, seventeen children were born; eleven daughters and six sons.

Shortly after marriage, James was drafted and served in the Korean War from 1953-1955. While James served, Rosa continued her ministry with the House of Prayer, which she joined in 1952. As a member of the House of Prayer, Rosa served as the Church Mother for 35 years. She also sustained the prestigious title as Grand Dame for 27 churches until 1987.

In 1987, Rosa and James embarked upon God’s vision by establishing their own ministry in Miami, FL, The Truth in Action Church, Inc. During the early inception of their ministry, Rosa was awarded the International Ambassador of the Church of God in Christ by Governor Bob Martinez in 1989. Their ministry remained in Miami until the passing of her loving husband in 1991. In opposition of the passing of Bishop Hunter, Rosa was persistent in continuing the vision of the Truth in Action Church, Inc. Rosa relocated to Douglas, GA, and continued to carry out the vision from 1992-2000. In 2000, Rosa moved to Valdosta, GA, and furthered her passion, diligence and dedication to fulfilling the gospel with the Truth in Action Church, Inc. until she was called home.

Rosa Bell Hunter was granted her angel wings on August 25th, 2020, with her family by her side. Her final days were spent surrounded by the family that she had touched in so many ways throughout her very memorable life.
