Obituary For Milton Mason

Milton Pierre Mason was born May 25, 1957 in Gastonia, North Carolina to Robert O. Mason Sr. and Viella H. Mason. He departed this life on Wednesday, September 2, 2020 at Accordius Health Care in Gastonia, North Carolina at the age of 63.

He was a member of the 1976 graduating class at Hunter Huss High School. He was a faithful member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church and served on the Usher Board. Milton was encouraged to join the Usher Board by his cousin Rev. Juan Smith. He trained other ushers and took his position seriously. He made us proud standing at his post looking “sharp” in his white attire. He also supported his dad, with the fish fry scholarship fundraisers at Mt. Calvary and the Gaston Boys Club.

Milton worked at Rauch Industries, Dave’s Buffet, The City of Ranlo, Jackson’s Cafeteria and Gaston Community Action volunteer.

One of his accomplishments while working for GCA was to be recognized in 1982 by Governor James B. Hunt. He and other selected Gastonia county citizens received the Governor’s Award Certificate and volunteer pin for outstanding service to their neighbors and the community.

Our brother was very devoted to our parents. He vowed that he would take care of them. He did this by washing clothes, making beds and doing any necessary household chores to help out. When dad said “Milton bring me one”, he knew to go to the fridge and retrieve a popsicle.

Milton was preceded in death by his beloved father: Robert O. Mason Sr, and his special friend: Lorraine Galloway.

He leaves to cherish fond memories his mother: Viella H. Mason, sister: Shelly Mason Stroud, brothers: Robert Odell Mason, Jr. and Sherman Travis Mason of Gastonia, North Carolina; his extended family for 9 years at Accordius Health: Uncle Simeon O. Holloway Sr. of Las Vegas, Nevada; Aunt Hortense Taylor of Niles, Michigan and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.

Walk thru viewing on Tuesday; September 8, 2020 at the funeral home from 4 until 6

Private funeral service.

Masks required at all services. Service will be live on Gregory Funeral Service facebook page on Wednesday at 1:00 p.m.

Milton never said much but when his father was there he would go daily and sit with him. He had the greatest smile. I will miss him. Prayers go out to his precious family.
