Obituary For Mother Minnie Lewis (84)

Know matter what your trials are, or how big your mountain seems; The Lord is there to see you through; He’ll go to all extremes. So if your cross seems hard to bear; and you know not what to do; The One who loves you most of all will be there to see you through.

I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. 2 Timothy 4:7-8

Mother Minnie Lewis, of Valdosta Georgia has gained her wings and have gone to be with the Lord. She was born on February 26, 1936 and after toiling on this side for 84 years, God has decided to summons her to eternal rest.

Thursday, September 3, 2020 is heavens gain of a devoted mother, a confident counselor, a prayer warrior and closest of friends. A woman who was always available to share an encouraging word and demonstrate strong support.

Mother Lewis was born on February 26, 1936 in Jakin, Ga. to the late Mr. Willie Waters & Mrs. Mamie Waters.

Mother Lewis professed a hope in Christ at an early age and was an active and regular supporter of the Lords church. She was a reverent woman who loved the Lord and a very independent person who would perform any tasks and instilled in her family to follow her example. She loved her family with a gentle, yet stern combination which only she possessed.

To the family, we know your loss is deep, and your sorrow is great, but we want you to know that we share in your sorrow, but more importantly, we recognize that this loss is Heaven’s Gain.

Home-Going Celebration Services will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2020 at 2:00 PM from Grace Life Church of Valdosta, Georgia. Mother Lewis will be laid to rest in the Riverview Memorial Gardens.

Final Care and Compassionate Services are being provided to the Lewis and connected families, with love, care, and uncompromising dignity, by Harrington Funeral Home Inc., Valdosta, GA.

A Resolution of Tribute for: Mother Minnie Lewis Though your days among us were too brief and our grief at your loss is never ending, we draw comfort from the knowledge that you have found safe refuge in the Lord and in our hearts, where no darkness or pain can touch you now. We bless you with love, light and our gratitude. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. 1 Corinthians 13:6-7. Whereas, Minnie Lewis, another beautiful spirit, who was the beloved sister of our member Grover Waters has taken flight as called by the heavenly Father, to the place prepared for us all from the foundation of the earth. Whereas, members of the Capital City Garden Club express our heartfelt sympathy in the passing of Mother Minnie Lewis. Whereas, the family and acquaintances of Minnie Lewis are deeply saddened at her departure. Now therefore, be it resolved that we wish all who are in mourning to take comfort from the immortal words of the great poet Khalil Gibran: "If you would indeed behold the spirit of death, open your heart wide unto the body of life. For life and death are one, even as the river and the sea are one... For what is it to die but to stand naked in the wind and to melt into the sun? And what is it to cease breathing, but to free the breath from its restless tides, that it may rise and expand and seek God unencumbered?... And when the earth shall claim your limbs, then shall you truly dance." Therefore, be it further resolved that we bow to a greater Will than our own and rest in the Knowledge that one day we will be united again, in joy and in the fullness of God's mercy. Humbly submitted in Faith and Appreciation For Mother Minnie Lewis, on September 11th by Capital City Garden Club

One of the sweetest women I've ever had the privilege to meet. Mother Minnie made me feel loved every time she greeted me. I felt special that she remembered who I was. I'm very grateful how she cared for my children. I remember being a young parent and one of my children was really fussy due to constipation. While at the daycare Mother Minnie prayed over my child and soothe the baby and my child had a bowel movement. After working with my child to bring some comfort and relief, one moment with Mother Minnie and all was well. Thank you Mother for the life you lived and the way you lived it. -Jarrett, Chandrea, Kiley, Trinity, & Chanan.

Ma Minnie was indeed one of the most sweetest person I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. My children loved "Grandma Minnie" as their own grandmother while attending the Rainbow Learning Center as well as being a fellow member of Rhema Word Fellowship. We will continue to uplift the family in prayer. Rest on Ma Minnie. Tan Jones and family
