Obituary For Mr. Lester P. Allen, Sr.

Mr. Lester Allen entered into rest Thursday, September 9, 2020 at his residence.

On September 9, 2020 Lester Phillips Allen, Sr. made his transition home to his eternal resting place. He was born November 28, 1951 to the late Walter and Ollie Pearl Allen. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sister Mrs. Edna Jenkins and two brothers, Mr.(s) Walter and Fred Lee Allen.

Lester graduated from Lucy Laney High School (1969) and Paine College (1976) where he was a stand-out basketball player. He was also a member of Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity.

He was an educator in the Richmond County School System and taught at Wilkinson Gardens Elementary and Hephzibah Middle School, where he also coached football/basketball and retired after 31 years of service. He also loved working crossword puzzles, quoting bible scriptures, and reading books, which he did most proficiently.

Fond memories will be forever cherished by: his loving and devoted wife of 42 years, Wilhelmenia B. Allen, a son, Lester Phillips Allen Jr. (Bernadette) and daughter, Deena N. Allen, four sisters, Ms. Barbara Jackson, Ms. Rosemary Marshall, Mrs. Ella (Willie) Lewis and Ms. Ollie Marie Ruffin, one brother Mr. Michael (88) Allen, mother-in-law, Mrs. Wilhelmenia Booker. two sisters-in-law, Ms. Pamela Booker and Mrs. Sabrina (Derrick) McNeill, five brothers-in-law, Marcus (Polly), Michael (Carolyn), Tony, Frank, and Brian Booker, one sister-in-law Carrie Booker and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, colleagues, students, friends, and one devoted best friend, Robert Bailey, Jr.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday, September 15, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. Mount Olive Memorial Gardens, 3666 Deans Bridge Road, with Reverend Sharon Caldwell, officiating.

*Public viewing Monday, September 14, 2020 from 2-6 p.m. at the mortuary.
