Obituary For William Henderson "Buck" Cameron

William Henderson (Buck) Cameron, age 87 of 150 Lick Creek Road, Sanford, NC transitioned into eternal rest on Thursday, September 10, 2020 at Central Carolina Hospital, Sanford, NC.

William was born to the late William Marvin and Eura Odell Rollins Cameron on December 20, 1932 in Broadway, NC. He was the oldest grandchild in the Cameron and Rollins family. He was married to Robenia Seymore Cameron and in this union, he helped raise two children, Ricky and Kim. William was preceded in death by his wife, Robenia Seymore Cameron and brother, Ira Makepeace Cameron.

William attended Lee County Training School. He joined Chestnut AME Zion Church at an early age where he was a dedicated member. He was a member of the Chestnut Gospel Singers when he was young and served on the Trustee, Steward and Usher Boards where he brought lots of innovation and love for the Lord up until his death. He had an infectious smile and loving spirit for everyone he met. He had a passion for picking turnip greens and was the historian when it came to the Cameron and Rollins family tree. William retired from Navajo Lines after working for over 30 years as a truck driver.

Those left to cherish his precious memories include his step children Ricky Simon and Kim Adams both of Sanford, NC; two grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; siblings – John Louis (Joanne) Cameron, Sarah Cameron (James) Jefferson, Frank James and Robert Earl Cameron all of Sanford, NC; one aunt – Bernice Rollins of St. George, SC; in-laws – Paul (Mary Ruth) Seymore of Goldston NC, Lee (Ruby) Seymore, James (Joyce) Seymore both of Moncure, NC. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews (special nephew – Donald Jefferson, who was his caretaker until he was hospitalized), cousins and friends including two very close friends, Owen Marks and Robert Lee Farrow.
