Cleopatria Harris

Passed 09/08/2020

Cleopatria Curlee Harris the daughter of Christopher Columbus and Catherine Cecelia Harris (both preceding her in death) was born in Charlotte, NC on January 2, 1944; the fifth of six children (the late Christopher Columbus, the late Calvin Coolidge, the late Catherine Cececlia, Claudette Colbert, and Clinton Conwallace Harris) born of this union.

She was educated in the Mecklenburg School System and was a proud graduate of West Charlotte High School and was a member of the Darling Debs. Cleopatria went on to receive her Bachelors from Barber Scotia College, NC. A proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha, Inc. She had a love of learning and would continue her pursuit for higher education by completing her Masters at UNC Pembroke, NC. Cleopatria followed her dreams of being an educator and served faithfully for over 30 years.

Curlee as she was affectionately known, was the unofficial Alsobrooks and Curlee Family Reunion photographer. She would ensure that year after year, every attendee will have photos to commemorate our annual times together. Creative. She singlehandedly organized and hosted the Harris Family Reunion in 1992, where everyone had a superb time, because of her attention to detail and thoughtfulness.

Bright and brilliant. Eclectic and eccentric, Cleopatria was simply unique. She lived life on her on terms. She is survived by her brother Clinton and sister Claudette (VA), her son Thanus Blakeney and host of family and friends to honor her memory.
