The devoted wife and lifelong partner of Ervin N. Fewell The caring and devoted mother to Roberta, Sandra and Gregory The faithful friend of young and old The wondrous gift and eternal property of our Lord

After a long battle with her illness, Lessie departed life at her home on Wednesday, September 2, 2020 surrounded by her family and a very special friend at her bedside. Lessie is survived by her husband Ervin N. Fewell, her children Roberta Kincaid, Sandra Brooks (Dave), Gregory Fewell (Barbara), granddaughter- Kinta Smiley (Anthony), grandson- Alexander Powell, great grandchildren Ahriannia and Joshua Smiley, Jackie Foxx, niece ,and a host of other nieces, nephews and friends.

Lessie was born in Lucia, North Carolina to Dock Maco and Alvesta Smith Foxx on August 19, 1934. She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers- Benjamin, Beaufort and Frank Foxx, sister Lucille Foxx Ross and her son-in-law Donald M. Kincaid. She grew up in Mount Holly, NC and was educated in the Gaston County school system.

Lessie was baptized at an early age and was a faithful member at Macedonia Baptist Church, Lucia, NC. It was there, with her family that she learned to be a good and faithful servant of the Lord. After her marriage to Ervin and traveling the world as Ervin fulfilled his military obligations, they settled in Columbia, SC. She found a new church home at Antioch Baptist of Columbia and became a member on January 18, 1997. She embraced her church family and was an active member until her death.

An infectious laugh and gentle nature, she never met a stranger. She had an unconditional love for her family and always looked forward to family gatherings. Her contribution was always the coconut pie from a recipe her mother handed down. She loved her squad, Ella, Lavon, Barbara, Janelle, Dean, Mildred and Liz and they were always there for her. The annual “Trotters Feast” was her favorite event to host for the squad.

Lessie is gone from this earth to a better place where she has found peace. May all the happy memories that she leaves behind comfort us as we mourn her death.
