Obituary For Grady Milton Garrett

Funeral services for Mr. Grady Milton Garrett, 86, will be 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 3, 2020, at Terry's Mortuary Chapel. Pastor Clarence Woodward will deliver the eulogy. The funeral services will be limited to the immediate family only. Interment will be in Rushing Springs Church Cemetery. Those that wish to pay their respects may join the family at the cemetery for the interment at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will be 2-7 p.m. on Friday, October 2, 2020.

Mr. Grady Milton Garrett was born on December 9, 1933, to the union of Thomas Garrett and Carrie Evans Garrett in Talladega County, Alabama. Mr. Garrett confessed his faith in Christ as his personal Savior and united with St. Campbell Missionary Baptist Church at an early age. On July 7, 2002, Grady joined his wife in membership at Rushing Springs Missionary Baptist Church where he served the Lord in song as a member of the senior choir. He was a graduate of Talladega County Training School. Professionally, Mr. Garrett was a retired brick mason with Labor Local #559. In recreational time, he enjoyed shooting pool. Grady found love in later years and on December 19, 1999, he was united in holy matrimony to Pearlie V. Garrett. In the early hours of Friday, September 25, 2020, Grady answered his Master’s call to eternity. He was preceded in passing by his son, Daniel Curry; his parents, Thomas and Carrie Garrett; two sisters, Rosie Mae Moore and Louise McGhee; and six brothers, Thomas Garrett, Otis Garrett, Obie Garrett, Edward Garrett, William Moten and Herman Garrett. Precious memories will forever live in the heart of his loving wife, Pearlie V. Garrett of Talladega, Alabama; four daughters, Angela Swain of Talladega, Alabama, Tamika G. (Reginald) Vanhorn of Huntsville, Alabama, Mary Jane Moten and Bridgett Welch of Birmingham, Alabama; five sons, Milton (Maxine) Garrett of Woodbine, Georgia, Stanley (Mary) Garrett, Jerome Garrett, Darryl G. (Jereesa) Garrett and Charles Welch of Talladega, Alabama; two stepdaughters, Angela C. Garrett and Barbara C. Elston of Talladega, Alabama; one stepson, Henry Cunningham of Talladega, Alabama; one sister, Katherine Curry of Talladega, Alabama; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
