Obituary For Truman Collier

Truman Collier,74, of Philadelphia, Mississippi passed on Thursday, September 24, 2020 from his residence in Neshoba County, Mississippi. Graveside Services will be held 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, September 29, 2020 from New Prospect M.B. Church Cemetery in Philadelphia, Mississippi, Visitation will be held 10:00 A.M. - 12:30 P.M. Tuesday, September 29, 2020 from Beck Funeral Home Chapel of Philadelphia Mississippi. Beck Funeral Home Philadelphia is in charge of all arrangements.

Mr. Truman Collier was born June 16, 1946 in Neshoba County to the late D.J. and Ethel Ree Collier. He was the youngest of eight children. He was wed in holy matrimony to the late Shirley Jean Steward. To that union, four children were born.

At an early age he joined New Prospect Missionary Baptist Church and remained a faithful member until his passing.

Truman was a graduate of C.W. Carver High School Class of 1966. He also attended Meridian Junior College. At the age of nineteen, Truman began working at Tri-C Wood Products, Inc., where he remained a dedicated and loyal employee until his death.

Over the course of his life, Truman served as a pillar in his community. Truman loved being outdoors. He was a softball coach for many years. He was also an avid sports fan who loved the New York Yankees and the Pittsburgh Steelers.

He leaves to cherish his memories six children: Lisa Collier Griffin ( Corey), Patsy Collier Hickman ( Late Marino), Tyrone Collier ( Tonya), Linda Collier ( David), Gerome McBeath, and Sharon Steward ( Eric). Two sisters: Ida Ree Pierce of Philadelphia, MS and Fannie Edmonds of Starkville, MS. Fifteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by five siblings.
