Marshall Smith, Jr. began life June 20, 1948, where he was born in Florence, Mississippi in Rankin County. He was the third child of ten children to be born to the late Marshall Smith, Sr. and Lela M. Smith. Marshall Smith, Jr. attended Westside Elementary and Sumner Hill High School. Shortly after graduating Marshall was drafted as a Marine with the rank of PVT E1 at entry in 1968. He served three years in the U.S. Marine Corps and fought in Vietnam World War II and discharged with rank of PVT E4 as honorable in 1970. Marshall Smith, Jr. was a member at Norman Chapel where he served as a deacon under the leadership of Rev. Holiness Barnes. Marshall Smith, Jr. was united in Holy Matrimony to Louise Alexander-Smith. To this union three children were born. Marshall Smith, Jr. is preceded in death by his wife Louise A. Smith, father Marshall Smith, Sr., mother Lela M. Smith, two sisters Evelyn Smith and Pennie S. Levi, brother Steve Smith and great grandson Ethan Smith. Marshall Smith, Jr. leaves behind a loving and devoted family to cherish his memories, a son, Robert E. Smith of Jackson, MS; two daughters, Jacqueline S. Lee (Dan) of Clinton, MS and Marsheia R. Smith (Mark) of Jackson, MS; five grandchildren, Patricia, Latricia Smith, Danarian (Lakishia), Shuntavia Lee and Peyton Smith; eight great grandchildren, Kaci, Nathan, Anna, Austin, Nina, Madison and Dallas; three sisters, Mary S. Thornton (Harrison), Betty S. Hughes (Alfred) and Helen S. Moton (Cornelius); one brother, Roy Smith (Patricia); a god daughter, Angela Brooks; a host of relatives.
