Mother Effie Lou Slaton Hobbs Loving Wife, Caring Mother, Beloved Sister, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother. Aunt, Cousin and friend. Faithful Church member , Dedicated to her Lord Jesus and her Pastor . Will be truly missed by all. Mother Effie Lou Slaton Hobbs was born December 4, 1943 to the late Mrs. Etha Mae Prater and the late Mr. Robert Slaton in Woodbury, Meriwether County, Georgia. She attended public school in the Meriwether County School System. At the tender age of sixteen she met Mr. T. C. Hobbs. They were joined together in marriage on December 23, 1959. To this union four children were born. They took their vows serious and shared a life-long relationship of almost sixty-one years together. During her early years she was employed by Thomaston Mills. Mother Hobbs was a lifelong member of the Springfield Baptist Church. She served on the Mother’s Ministry and was a honary member of the Usher’s Ministry. She was dedicated to her Lord and Savior. Jesus Christ, her pastor and to her church. She was faithful and dependable and was always available to server where ever needed. During her leisure time she enjoyed fishing. Cooking watching her stories and wrestling.

She was preceded in death by her parents. One son; Bobby Lee Hobbs, and one brother; Dickie Lee Slaton. On Thursday, September 17, 2020 the Lord saw his daughter in distress. He whispered her name, she answered and went home to rest. Her departure has saddened the hearts of her family, but her memory will live on. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Deacon T. C. Hobbs of Thomaston, GA; three sons. Mr. Willie F. ( Pamela) Hobbs of Jonesboro, GA; Mr. Tracy Hobbs of Thomaston, GA; Mr. Charlie L. (Seretha) Hobbs of Jonesboro, GA and one step-son, Mr. Lester W. (Betty) Copeland of McDonough, GA twelve grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; one half brother, Mr. Lamar Moody of Woodbury, GA; two sisters-in-law. Mrs. Christine Jordan of Louisville, KY and Mrs. Minnie Hobbs of Columbus, GA; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends all who will miss her dearly.
