Sheila Joyner Simmons, 59, passed away on Monday, September 28, 2020

Graveside service 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 7, 2020 at Gardens of Gethsemane, 13670 US Hwy 64 Alt West, Rocky Mount, NC 27801 with Reverend Thomas Ray Green, officiating.

Visitation 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 6, 2020 at Hunter-Odom Funeral Service, 121 S Fairview Road, Rocky Mount, NC 27801.

Sister Simmons was a faithful member of New Beginnings during her time in Elizabeth City, NC along with her husband who served as our Assistant Pastor. Lady Simmons filled our church doors with Love like no other. Her smile would light up the room, her spirit would lift you up, her positive presence would bring so much joy to all. She worked endlessly in the church and community. Her faithful dedication assisted us in opening the city's 1st Homeless shelter, alongside her husband they also found and managed our Church's first Prison ministry. She worked for Christ each and every day looking for nothing in return but to help someone get closer to GOD. Our Hearts will be forever broken knowing you no longer here however, we know that your spirit will always be near. 'Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; he has now put you in charge of many things. Go and share your master's happiness!" To the Loving Family, our prayers and support are with you.
