Obituary For Henry James "Jay" Flemister IV

HENRY JAMES FLEMISTER IV, affectionately called “JAY” by all who knew him, at the age of 19 years, he passed away suddenly on Sunday September 20, 2020 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. He was born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania to Dana Andrews and Henry J. Flemister III and was reared by his mother and his step-father, Aaron Slade Sr. Jay was a 2019 graduate of Steelton-Highspire High School where he was an honor roll student and was a captain on the Roller Football Team; a two-time District Champion, winning 1st team all-conference and 1st team defense his senior year. He also played baseball and basketball for the Rollers. He received an Outstanding Student Athlete Award and the Shevock Athletic Scholarship. Jay simply loved sports and in his grade school years, he excelled in midget sports, he wrestled for the Cougar Cubs, played football for the Harrisburg Packers and Harrisburg Bronco organizations. He is also a former member of MOSELF Inc. baseball where he learned to excel in the sport he loved. Having a desire to further his education, he currently was attending Central Penn College, where he was studying Business Management and on the dean’s list, with a goal of becoming an entrepreneur upon graduation. Jay was also a member of the Central Penn baseball team. He was an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan and in addition to his love of sports, Jay enjoyed playing play-station and hanging with his friends during school breaks. The one past-time Jay treasured the most was spending time with his three children. Jay’s maternal grandfather, Darryl L. Andrews preceded him in death. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his sons, Ayden L. Flemister and Jakari E. Strawbridge-Flemister; his daughter, Alaia N. Flemister; his brothers, Justice Andrews, Dupri Andrews and Christiòn Flemister; his sisters, Hylise J. Flemister, Tayonni Flemister and Oshanea Davis; his maternal grandmother, Susan C. Roberts and his paternal grandmother, Marie Flemister, all of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; his uncles, Larry Stazewski, Tuffy Flemister, Darryl Butler and Dominick “Uncle Kool-Aid” Flemister, all of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania and Gary Stazewski of New Jersey; his aunts, Danelle Stazewski, and Sasha Flemister, both of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; his cousins, Nate, Michael, Logan, Jaylen and Mikayla Stazewski and Ashley Dickey, all of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; his close friends, Lorenzo “Boo” McCraw, Nazir Burnett, Jordan McCraw and Kelsie Gilbert; the mothers of his children, Dominae Diggs, Amani Johnson and Elajah Strawbridge; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. Henry touched the lives of everyone he came in contact with and will be truly missed. In the words of one of his former teachers, “He was a beautiful soul who truly rocked with everyone and made whoever he was around at any given moment happier”. Jay’s life will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 3, 2020 at Reservoir Park Band Shell, 100 Concert Dr., Harrisburg with viewing from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM and burial in Paxtang Cemetery.
