Obituary For Mrs. Lois Ann Massey

Mrs. Lois Ann Massey, 69, of 463 Milhaven Road, Rock Hill, South Carolina passed away Monday, September 28, 2020 at Piedmont Medical Center. She was born on May 8, 1951 in York County, SC to the late Samuel Jennings and Johnnie Mae Durham Jennings.

She was married to Jerry Wayne Massey, Sr and the union was blessed with one son. she attended Browns Elementary in Winston Salem, NC and York County public schools. She graduated from Emmett Scott High School, class of 1969. She was employed at Cone Mills for several years. She later worked at INA and retired in 2016. She was known to her coworkers as "Ms Lois". Her coworkers highly respected and loved her dearly. She was a mother figure to many of them. After retiring, she worked for the Rock Hill School District as a substitute teacher. Her students called her "Grandma" and expressed that she was the BEST substitute teacher. Lois was a faithful member of Pineville AME Zion Church where she previously served on the Usher Board, Secretary of Sunday School and member of Pineville Burial Aid Society.

Lois had a sweet and kind spirit. She never met a stranger and made everyone feel loved. She never hesitated to lend a helping hand or loving support. She truly loved her family and she me sure they all knew it. One of her favorite quotes was "I love you and there's nothing you can do about it". She never said good-bye but ended all conversations whether in person or over the phone with "Sweet Sweet Love Love".

In addition to her parents, she was proceeded in death by her sister, Mattie Denton and grandson, JaTerrance Massey. She is survived by her beloved son Jerry Wayne Massey Jr. (Shanika); Grandson: Travis Robinson, Jeremy Massey, and Jaylen Massey all of Rock Hill, SC; brothers: Alexander Jennings (Barbara) and Samuel Jennings both of Rock Hill, SC; Sisters Ella Miller (James H) of Charlotte, NC , Virginia Jennings and Geraldine Jennings all of Rock Hill, SC; an aunt Mattie Lee Douglas; God-daughter Marlene Sims-Roddey, devoted nephews whom she called her sons, Rev. Spencer Miller Sr (Charleen) and Lamont Jennings; Brother-in-law Charles Massey; Sisters-in -law, Elenor Page, Earline Massey, Maggie Massey and Edith Jones; close friends, Barbara Ann Miller, Patricia Moore and Betty Thorne, a host of nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly cousins and friends.

Visitation will be held Sunday, October 4, 2020 from 2 p.m. – 6 p.m. at Parker Funeral Home; Graveside service Monday, October 5, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at Grandview – Cherry Road.

Family will receive friends at 1204 Green Street Ext.
