Obituary For Grant McKentley Morris

Grant Morris, 22, of Walnut Cove, NC died September 30, 2020. Memorial service will be held Friday, October 9, 2020 at Mary D. Perry Memorial Chapel (Perry Spencer Funeral Home), Madison, NC.

Grant was born February 20, 1998 to the late Nancy Yvonne Gwynn and George Grant Morris. He was called to his heavenly home on September 30, 2020. He attended Stokes County Schools and graduated from Meadowbrook Academy in King, NC in June, 2016. He also attended Forsyth Technical Community College, Winston Salem, NC where he aspired to be an auto mechanic. Grant was a very kindhearted young man who greeted everyone with a smile. He loved his family dearly and he will be truly missed. He was also preceded in death by his maternal grandparents; Early and Margaret Dowdy and his paternal grandparents; George and Annie Ruth Morris. After the death of his mother, Nancy Grant, at his age of 8 years he was raised by his adopted parents, Meoshi and James “AZ” Thompson.

Grant leaves to cherish his memory: three loving sisters; Brooke Moore of Greensboro, NC, Precious Lewis of Winston Salem, NC, and a special devoted sister, Zonntta Manns of the home. Two brothers; James “Rudy” Thompson (Jessica) of Walnut Cove, NC and James Thompson of Winston Salem, NC. His “Big Mama”, Vanessa Manns of Walnut Cove, NC, aunt, Tina Bennett (Bernie), four great-aunts; Yvone Boger of Surry County, Annie K. Watkins, Nancy Mitchell and Alma Mitchell all of Walnut Cove, NC, two uncles; Christopher A. Morris and Skollar Morris both of Winston Salem, NC. Also, two best friends; Jamal Blakney and Adam Gravely. He was also known as “Uncle Pork Chop” to a host of nieces and nephews.
