Mrs. Carrie Hobbs

Augusta, Georgia—Mrs. Carrie H. Hobbs went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, October 4, 2020 at Eisenhower Army Medical Center.

She was born April 18, 1932 in Harlem, GA and was the youngest of 10 children born to Abbie and Viola Hammond. She attended the public schools of Columbia County. At an early age she was converted and baptized at the Water Branch Baptist Church where she served faithfully until her health declined.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Abbie and Viola Hammond; siblings, Litischua (Honey) Lyons, Peter Hammond, Ellen Hammond, Leomia (Lee) Hammond Beard, Nellie Henry, Abbie Hammond, Jr., Willie (Cap) Hammond, Ella Mae (Sis) Hammond, and William (Big Man) Hammond; son, Michael Hobbs.

Survivors are her husband, (Ret. SSG) Charles T. Hobbs, Sr.; her children, Charles T. Hobbs, Jr. (Denise), San Antonio, TX, Mira J. Hobbs, Augusta, and Vincent I. Hobbs of Augusta; three grandchildren, Charnise Hobbs Johnson (Kevin), San Antonio, TX, Charles T. Hobbs, III (Sasha), San Antonio, TX, Vincent Sullivan-Hobbs, Augusta; 6 great-grandchildren, Neziah Johnson, Aythan Johnson, Adlai Johnson, Nazaryah Johnson, Gianna Hobbs, and Charles T. Hobbs, IV, all of San Antonio, TX; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

A private family celebration of life will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her memory to Golden Harvest Food Bank, 3310 Commerce Drive, Augusta, GA 30909 or Water Branch Baptist Church, PO Box 785, Harlem, GA.
