Obituary For Mary Alice Branson

On Monday evening, October 5, 2020, God saw Mary was getting tired, so He did what was best; He came and and smiled upon Mary and whispered "Servant, come and rest."

Mary Alice McMillon- Branson was born on December 29, 1951 in Kosciusko, MS. She was the third child of the late James and Coreen McMillon. At an early age Mary dedicated her life to Christ and joined Ebenezer M.B. Church in Marydell, MS, where she served as a faithful member until her health failed. Mary attended O.E. Jordan School until segregation ended, she then finished her schooling at Edinburg Attendance Center, in which she became the first African American graduate. She then furthered her education, and graduated from East Central Community College.

Mary was employed with the Leake County School District for 38 years. Sher took great pride in helping the youth of Leake County. Mrs. Branson is best known by many students of all generations for her sweet, yet stern and straight-forward attitude. She retired from the Leake County School District on May 21, 2018. On June 10, 1972, Mary united in Holy matrimony to Dolphus Branson, and to this union two children were born. She leaves behind a loving family to cherish her memories; a loving husband, Dolphus Branson; two daughters, Lakecia (Raymond) Jenkins and Latonia (Sidney) Wilder; both of Carthage, MS, eight grandchildren; India Wingo, Beonka (Calvin) Watkins, Jerell Wilder, Alexis Wilder, Sidney Wilder II, Ja'Tavian Wilder, Jalen Wright, and Je'Miya Wilder; seven great-grandchildren; Brandon, Dontravion, Rodrekeques, Cassidi, Khameron, Aniyah, and Kai'sler. One sister, Almedia Weathers of Carthage, MS and one brother James Frederick (Thelma) McMillon of Kosciusko, MS. Two sister-in-laws; Geneva Smith of Carthage, MS and Gloria Hunter of Richton Park, Illinois; two special cousins; Ruby Dodd of Ridgeland, MS and Lora Levy of Carthage, MS. One special friend, Larry Simpson. "Tee_Tee" Mary, as she was affectionately called, leaves several nieces and nephews and a host of relatives and friends to cherish her memories. Mary was preceded in death by one sister.
