Obituary For Hattie Schenck

Mrs. Hattie Mae Watkins Schenck, 88 of Stanley, NC passed away on Friday, October 9, 2020 at CaroMont Health in Gastonia, NC. She was born on June 21, 1931 in Rutherford County, NC to the late Sebe Watkins and the late Pearlie Patterson Watkins.

Hattie was a member of Brooks Chapel United Methodist Church in Polkville, NC. She was retired from American Efird Mills in Mt. Holly, NC after 40 years as a winder hand. In her free time, she enjoyed watching soaps, going to gospel concerts, shopping and spending time with friends and family.

Hattie was united in holy matrimony to Ernest F. Schenck on October 18, 1950 and in this union two children were born, Pearlie Jean and Earnest Jr.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Ernest F. Schenck; great-granddaughter, Kimberly A. Buchanan; four brothers, Acres “Nelson” Watkins, Brodus Watkins, Robert Watkins and Earnest Watkins and a siter, Corine Miller.

She leaves to cherish her memory, a daughter, Pearlie Schenck Barnett of Stanley, NC; son, Earnest, Jr. Schenck (Judy) also of Stanley, NC; four grandchildren, Angela Schenck and Christi Schenck both of Stanley, Mauritius Schenck of Mt. Holly, NC, Chaisaray Schenck (Courteney) of Greensboro, NC; six great-grandchildren, Ronnie Meeks (Mindy) of Colorado; Shawn Wilson of Washington State, Alexis Schenck of Atlanta, GA and Olivia and Cionna Schenck both of Mt. Holly, NC, Zoe Schenck of Greensboro, NC; three great-great grandchildren, Michela Page, Peyton Meeks and Sophia Meeks all of Colorado; two brothers, T. K, Watkins of Lawndale, NC and Raymond Watkins of Gastonia, NC; three sisters, Gladys Bines of Shelby, NC, New Zeland Ross of Charlotte, NC and Marjorie Schenck of Stanley and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The funeral service for Mrs. Schenck will be private. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM until 2:30 PM on Sunday, October 18, 2020 at S.T. Enloe Memorial Chapel. Burial will take place at Brooks Chapel United Methodist Church in Polkville, NC.
