Obituary For Renae Hunter

Graveside services for Mrs. Renae Gooden Hunter of Lincoln, 45, will be 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 17, 2020, at Pine Hill Memorial Park. Pastor Timothy E. Caldwell will officiate. Visitation will be 2:00-6:00 p.m. on Friday, October 16, 2020.

The Lord saw the need for a strong, determined and fiercely independent woman who would love spending time with family and friend, so he blessed Jerry Gooden and Lavonne Pointer Gooden with Renae on July 7, 1975, in Talladega, Alabama.

Renae united with Belview Missionary Baptist Church at an early age. She was created and sent by God for the purpose of being an angel to so many. She was the angel mentioned in Exodus 23:20 "See, I am sending an angel ahead of you to guide you along the way and to bring you to the place I have prepared." Renae was a member of the 1993 graduating class of Talladega High School. She continued her education at Central Alabama Community College, Gadsden State Community College with her education concluding at Auburn University Montgomery in 2018. Having a servants heart, Renae made her life’s mission caring for others. She worked her entire career in nursing, moving up the ranks of management at Diversicare (formely Golden Living) until she received the position of Director of Nursing. She also served as Director of Nursing for Civic Center Health and Rehabilitation.

She was unendingly proud of her son, Jacoby and grandchildren, Jayce and De’Myah. They were the pride and joy of her life. She always tried her best to be a fantastic mother and grandmother. She had a very strong presence in their lives and lived as an example for them. She was committed to her family and excelled unselfishly and sacrificially in supporting them. Her indomitable spirit encouraged others to persist in their passions and difficulties. She made it her mission to improve the lives of others, to brighten their lives and wanted all to achieve their highest potential.

Renee was married to Anthony on September 7, 2018. She honored the covenant that they made before God by being a devoted and dedicated wife. With this partnership, she brought total confidence, uncompromising support, refreshing humor, immeasurable joy, happiness and a unique love. The friendship that they shared and the memories that they created will forever be a demonstration of the love that they had for one another.

On the evening of Sunday, October 11, 2020, Renae answered the Master’s call at St. Vincent’s East. She was reunited in eternity with her mother, Lavonne Gooden.

Renae leaves to cherish her memories: her loving husband, Anthony Hunter of Lincoln, Alabama; her father, Jerry Gooden of Talladega, Alabama; her son, Jacoby (Candice) Gooden of Lincoln, Alabama; two stepchildren, Kaya Hall and Zion Hall of Oxford, Alabama; two grandchildren Jayce Gooden and De’Myah Smith; one sister, Tina L. Gooden of Talladega, Alabama; three brothers, Ronnie Gooden, Carlos Servant and Gary W. (Pamela) Gooden of Talladega, Alabama; seven nieces and nephews, Sessanee (Edward), Tanisha, Gary Jr., D’Terrius, Jayla, Nariya and Zion; In-laws, Betty Alford of Talladega, Alabama and Jerry Alford of Vincent, Alabama; one sister-in-law Shemeka Alford of Talladega, Alabama; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
