Guest Book

I wrote this in route to Gloria's visitation but kept adding and revising it. We met Gloria when we moved to Baton Rouge from New York in 1981. Gloria's brother and sister-in-law, our first BR/LA good good friends, Dr. Johnnie Spencer and Vanessa Domingue Spencer, introduced us to their respective families. They all welcomed us, took us in and introduced us to the Louisiana customs. Shortly after our arrival Gloria coaxed her husband, Dr. Joseph Dyer, to take us to Mardi Gras when my parents came to visit. She even convinced her sister and brother-in-law, our adopted family and beloved friends, Veronica Spencer Baptiste and Lloyd Baptiste, to lend their new van for the venture. We stayed all day at Fat Tuesday in New Orleans and had a wonderful time. Additionally, Gloria always knew the best eating spots and was always game to modestly enjoy life. Gloria was humble, vivacious, glamorous and a loyal kind friend. Gloria always lent an ear for your concerns and offered help or suggestions. Besides my parents, Gloria met my five siblings who fell under her spell and loved her. Gloria will be sorely missed. We extend our sincerest condolence to the family for our collective loss of a beautiful sophisticated and blessed woman. Antoinette (Toni) Henderson & Earl Henderson
