Obituary For Evangelist Pearlie Mae Millender

Evangelist Pearlie Mae Millender was born on June 1, 1943 in Barberville, FL to Mr. Willie and Mrs. Floria Martin. Coming from a great lineage of preachers, she had a lifelong journey fulfilling the works of Christ as a 3rd generation Pentecostal preacher. After leaving Florida, she moved to Mississippi, as a teen, and was a resident there for over 50 years. Here she met Garrett Millender and was united in Holy Matrimony sand a blended family of four was formed. As a resident of Mississippi, she accomplished many things and helped many people. She started her walk with Christ at Full Gospel Pentecostal under Overseer Emmanuel Wells and later united with the Church of God of Cleveland, TN until aligning with her grandson, Bishop Tarvis Brown, under Kingdom International Fellowship of Christian Churches. She served as Pastor of Maranatha Church of God for 23 years and served the Lord in ministry a total of over 40 years. During this time, she formed various women’s prayer groups and also served on the Ministerial Board of Jackson County Evangelists. Evangelist Millender had a heart for decorating and a love for helping women and young people like none other. She thoroughly enjoyed a long career as an interior designer with Home Interior and Gifts. She and her husband were also foster parents in the Jackson County Community. She spent the last year of her life in San Antonio, TX doing what she loved, assisting her grandson in Ministry. Evangelist Millender was preceded in death by her husband, Garrett Millender; parents Willie Martin and Floria Martin; stepson, Alvin Millender; and siblings, George Martin, Patricia Thompson, Willie Martin, Jr. and Charlene Johnson. Survivors are her daughter, Linda Brown; stepdaughter, Carol Biggs; stepson, Eric (Beverly) Brown; grandsons, Bishop Tarvis (Gwyneth) Brown, Jarvis Brown, Eric Brown, Jr., Stephen Brown, Alicia Keys and Shatamera Biggs; siblings Margaret (Roy) Campbell, Earl (Cathy) Martin and Alzeda Johnson; grandmama’s brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Hixon Millender, Robert (Evelyn) Millender, Steve Millender, all of Moss Point, MS, Charles (Kate) Johnson of Laurel, MS, Bertha Black of Beatrice, AL, Cornelius Williams of San Antonio, TX, Olabayo Mandela of Atlanta, GA, and Annie (Albert) Benifield of Houston, TX; three devoted nieces, Pamela Martin, Pricilla (Lewis) Daniels and Cherie Betts; and one devoted nephew, Anthony Baker.
