Louise Lucas “NANA”, 95, of Harrisburg, formerly of New York City. transitioned into eternal life on Monday, October 5, 2020 at UPMC Pinnacle Harrisburg Hospital in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. She was born in Fuquay-Varina, Wake County, North Carolina; daughter of the late Odessa Adams and the late Joseph Parham. She was the first of 11 children and her siblings called her “Mammie” because of the love she showed them. Louise received her formal education from the school system in North Carolina from where she graduated from high school. Because job opportunities were scarce for a young black woman growing up in the thick of adversity, racism and segregation, she became a domestic worker and worked in the homes of affluent white families. She had a never-ending drive and determination which inspired her move to New York City with her first son, the late Wayne Stephens, paving the way for her siblings and parents who eventually settled in New York City. In New York, Louise met and married the late Hubert Lucas. During that time, she took into her loving care, her daughter, LaShon and sons, Jose and Antoine. She became the mother figure to everyone who had the pleasure of meeting her because of sacrificial and unconditional love. She was also a dedicated member of Washington Temple COGIC for over 40 years. Louise settled into her lifelong entrepreneurial career as a caregiver of babies and children. She loved watching the generations of children that she helped rear. She loved to cook and host the Thanksgiving Dinner every year. She relocated to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania to enjoy the final fruits of her labor and lived with her daughter, Lashon. Louise was proud, content and really loved her family. She united with the fellowship of Harris A.M.E. Zion Church in Harrisburg. Nana was preceded in death by, Wayne Stephens, Wayne Stephens, Jr. and Jose Lucas and leaves to celebrate her life and cherish fond memories of her, her daughter, Lashon Osibodu; her son, Antoine M.
