Obituary For Erline Brown Scott

Funeral services for Ms. Erline Brown Scott formerly of Talladega will be 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 28, 2020, at Terry's Mortuary Chapel. Elder Jerrell Hicks will deliver the eulogy. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-6 p.m. on Tuesday, October 27, 2020.

Ms. Erline Brown Scott was the second of twelve children born to Eugene Brown and Katie Welch Brown in Talladega, Alabama.

Ms. Scott was a longtime member of Jacob’s Chapel Christian Methodist Episcopal Church. During her Christian journey, Erline served as a stewardess, missionary and was elated to serve as the chairwoman of the annual Martin Luther King, Jr. program after the passing of her companion, Dr. Woodrow Dorsey. She was so proud of the work that was done during the observance that she always made sure to send her family a copy of the program each year. Ms. Scott was educated in Talladega and was retired from Wehadkee Yarn Mill. Anyone that really knew Erline knew that she was a fashionista, was an excellent cook, enjoyed dancing, was a bit of a socialite and of course you never asked a lady her age. She relocated in the early 2000s to Buffalo, New York so that her family could care for her when her health began to fail and she remained there until her demise.

On October 18, 2020, Ms. Scott answered the Master’s call. She was preceded in passing by her husband, Gene Scott; her parents, Eugene and Katie Brown; a sister, Mabel Fussello; four brothers, Eugene Brown, Frankie Brown, Charles Brown and William Brown; and her longtime companion, Dr. Woodrow Dorsey.

Cherished memories will forever be in the hearts of her four sisters, Sarah Crosby, Lillie Mae Brown, Katie L. Brown and Patricia Dixon of Buffalo, New York; two brothers, Clarence (Juanita) Brown of Cleveland, Ohio and Billy Brown of Buffalo, New York; and host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
