Obituary For Jeremiah Garrett

Graveside services for Mr. Jeremiah Garrett of Alpine, 62, will be 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 24, 2020, at Bethel Church Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-7 p.m. on Friday, October 23, 2020.

Mr. Jeremiah Garrett began life’s journey on January 11, 1958, to the union of Obie Garrett, Jr. and Marbetta Garrett Etheridge in Talladega County, Alabama.

Mr. Garrett was a member of Kingston Missionary Baptist Church at an early age and later united with Bethel Missionary Baptist Church. Jeremiah was a member of the 1976 graduating class of Gadsden High School. He was enlisted in the United States Air Force and served honorably. He was a former employee of Wehadkee Yarn Mill and the City of Talladega Public Works Department. On November 18, 1988, Jeremiah and the former Teresa Weatherspoon were united in holy matrimony.

On the evening of Sunday, October 18, 2020, Mr. Garrett began his eternal journey at the University of Alabama Birmingham Hospital. He was preceded on this journey by his father, Obie Garrett, Jr.; and his stepfather, William Ethridge, Sr.

Precious memories will forever be in the hearts of his loving wife, Teresa W. Garrett of Alpine, Alabama; his mother, Marbetta Ethridge of Gadsden, Alabama; one daughter, Shanna Weatherspoon of Talladega, Alabama; two grandsons, Javon Ward Garrett and Konner Parham; six sisters, Denise Wilson of Alpine, Alabama, Deborah (Undray) Taylor of Smith Station, Alabama, Jean (Greg) Spaulding of Smithfield, Virginia, Paula Ethridge-Rigby, Cynthia (Walter) Smith of Gadsden, Alabama and Shawnta (Eric) Harrell of Smith Station, Alabama; eleven brothers, William (Catherean) Ethridge, Jr. of Gadsden, Alabama, Bobby (Tracey) Garrett of Anniston, Alabama, Eddie (Nikkey) Ethridge of Huntsville, Alabama, Charlie (Barbara) Ethridge of Gadsden, Alabama, Paul (Karen) Ethridge of Fairfax, Virginia, Michael (Briana) Ethridge of Huntsville, Alabama, Terry (Gloria) Garrett of Mayelene, Alabama, Dale (Monica) Garrett of Hobson City, Alabama, Jerry (Annetta) Garrett of Richwood, Texas, Bernard Garrett of West Lake, Louisiana and Curtis Garrett of Auburn, Washington; four special brothers, Ronald (Renay) Garrett of Alpine, Alabama, Sammy (Felecia) Garrett of Childersburg, Alabama, James (Trina) Nix, Jr. of Gadsden, Alabama and Frederick Weatherspoon of Talladega, Alabama; one Goddaughter, Tequila Garrett of Lincoln, Alabama; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relative and friends.
