Obituary For Julius Jones, Jr.

Dr. Julius Jones, Jr. was born on January 9, 1962 in Spartanburg, SC. He was married to Albertha Anderson Jones for thirty-six years. He was one of eight children of the late Julius “Buck” Jones, Sr. and Thelma Lee Jones. He departed this life Friday evening, October 16, 2020. Dr. Jones, known by family and friends as “June” and “JayJay” was a proud and esteemed veteran of the United States Air Force. He served honorably and achieved the rank of Master Sergeant. Throughout his military career, he was stationed in Florida, Germany, Las Vegas, Korea, Japan, and Delaware. After serving twenty years, Dr. Jones retired from the Air Force. Dr. Jones was employed with Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center in the division of information technology and business intelligence. His love for cybersecurity and information technology inspired him to pursue advanced degrees in this field. His most recent accomplishment was the completion of his Ph.D. program in Technology and Innovation. Dr. Jones leaves to cherish loving memories to his children: Diane Simon of Fort Walton Beach, Florida, Cathleen S.-Ford (Felton C. Ford, Jr.) of Indianapolis, Indiana, Justina Johnson of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Julian Jones (Tiara Lashae Jones) of Dallas, Texas; five sisters, Kathy Jones, Shelva Ferguson, Gwendolyn Craig (Odell Craig, Jr.) all of Spartanburg, SC, Robin Smith (Joseph Smith, Sr.) of Jonesville, SC, and Tammy Tate (Harry Tate, Jr.) of Duncan, SC,; nine grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. Dr. Jones was preceded in death by: his siblings, Jackie Jones, Darrell Jones (late Linda Williams Jones) of Spartanburg, SC, and a great nephew, Kejuanté Clarke of Spartanburg, SC. A Celebration of the Life of Dr. Julius Jones, Jr. will be held on Friday, October 23, 2020 at 12:00 noon at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery, 505 Hickory Nut Rd., Inman, SC.
