On Thursday, October 22, 2020, Alus B. Amos a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and cousin gained her wings at the age of 95. Alus B. Amos was born on December 25, 1924 in Hazlehurst, Mississippi to Katie Warden and Joe Brown. She was educated up to the eighth grade. Alus was a lifetime member of Pine Leaf Missionary Baptist Church. Alus move to Chicago, Illinois at an early age and married Jessie Amos and from that union they produced Jessie Charles, Audrey “Hank”, Alus Augusta “Gus” and Jo Denise (Lawrence Bailey). Alus also raised a son named Lawrence Magee (Camille). Alus loved her grandchildren Darryl, Kina (Roland Gandy, Jr.), Damon (Carleana), Deanna, Marcus (Floyie Helen), Shannon, Courtney, and Carolyn (Major Lacy). Alus has 28 great-grandchildren, 17 great- great children, and two sisters, Margie and John Frank “Frankie” (Leonard Johnson). Alus has a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Alus was proceeded in her death by her beloved husband Jessie, her daughters Audrey and Alus “Gus”, her parents Katie and Joe Brown, her sisters Dorothy, Flossie, and Mattie “Mat Elma”, her brother Robert and her great grandson Antonio Shamby.
