Obituary For Verdelle Floyd, Sr.

~OBITUARY~

"I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing" II Timothy 4:7-8

Verdell Floyd, Sr., was born February 5, 1959 to the late Richard Floyd and Isabella T. Floyd in Estill, South Carolina. He accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age, and he joined First Thankful Baptist Church.

He was educated in the public schools of Hampton County. After graduation, Verdell became employed with Crosby Logging Company for many years.

Verdell was joined in holy matrimony to the former Rosa Lee Johnson and God blessed this union with four children.

He never met a stranger, and he would start a conversation with anyone he met. Conversations that sometimes resulted in him providing some type of assistance to the many people he met. Verdell loved everyone.

In addition to his parents, Verdell is preceded in death by (1) Son: Demetrius Floyd and (1) Brother: Larry Floyd.

On Monday, October 26, 2020, at his residence, he quietly moved into his last great adventure.

He leaves to cherish fond memories of his astonishing legacy are: his loving and devoted wife: Rosa Lee Floyd of the home; (3) Sons: Verdell Floyd, Jr., Derrick Floyd, and Troup Floyd all of Hampton, SC; (3) Grandchildren; (1) Great-Grand; (4) Sisters: Marraih (Richard) O'Banner, Brooklyn, NY, Rose Lee (Alexander) Blake, Atlanta, GA, Essie Dell Forrester, and Elaine Jones both of Gifford, SC; (2) Brothers: Clarence Floyd and Richard Floyd, Jr., both of Gifford, SC; (1) Aunt: Elizabeth Bellinger, Columbia, SC; Mother-In-Law: Leola Little, Savannah, GA; (1) Brother-In-Law: Joseph Owens, Savannah, GA; (1) Sister-In-Law; Leola Bostick, Savannah, GA; Adopted Daughter: Carolyn Grant; (5) Caregivers: Darlene Sanders, Liz LeCato, Maxine Bostick, Ashley Green and Linda Walls. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and devoted friends.
