At the tailend of my senior year of high school, my counselor refused to give me my cap/gown informing me that I failed to meet my foreign language criteria. I told him that I had 2 yrs of French with a B average and he said that didn't count. I know right??? I said can I use your phone and proceeded to call Auntie and explain the situation. She said I'll be there in 20 minutes. Y'all know for auntie that meant 30-45 minutes. I'm sitting in the office steaming when she arrived and pointed her to his office. She went in, 10 minutes later she cane out with my cap and gown, gave it to me and said she had to get back to work. The next week I had a new counselor because that one was no longer a member of Rickards staff. My Aunt was my Warrior that day and every day of my life. Thank you Auntie for always looking out for my best interest. Love you forever, Swanna!

Dade Street Recreation Center was synonymous with Ms. Gregory. It was the meeting place for friends and "teenage lovers" - real dates and sneaking dates. Dade Street was fun and good times and many actually learned to skate and Beulah Gregory made it and kept it a safe haven for African American young people for years! She is a forever part of French Town and Tallahassee legacy. Everybody knew Ms. Gregory! My heartfelt sympathies are extended to Gwen and the Gregory Family. Dianne Boardley Suber
